What to Include in a Business Brochure

With the large influx of digital marketing and advertising in the last decade, it may come as a surprise to some to learn that a strategic, professionally printed brochure is still a powerful marketing strategy for any modern company. Well-designed and creatively implemented brochures make for versatile marketing tools.

With limited page real estate available in business brochure design, it’s important to know what to include in a company brochure before you begin. To get you started we’ve come up with a list of the most common features we see in our business brochure printing endeavors.

Start with a compelling headline

The headline determines whether a prospect will be drawn to picking up your brochure and reading it or moving on to the next best thing. Take stock of what information you want to present in your brochure and what your main objective is. With that in mind create a headline that will inform your reader exactly what they can expect to find inside the brochure.

Give readers a reason to keep your brochure

Brochures for business are often thought of as ephemeral or disposable. Keep your brochure in the reader’s possession longer by providing something of value. Consider adding an industry-specific cheat sheet that your customers would appreciate, or a map of the best eats or attractions in town.

Include your Unique Selling Point (USP)

What sets you apart from your competitors? Every business should understand what makes them better than the rest, but your customers may not know. Let them know how you go above and beyond by working in your USP.

Include a call to action (CTA)

Don’t assume that your customer will be biting at the bit to give you a call simply because they read your brochure. Offer them something like a free product or gift, or a special discount in exchange for a specific action. Most people won’t act without incentive so now’s your chance to give them a little nudge.

Include your story

Give a little background knowledge about your business – where you started and struggles you’ve had to face – anything that will help them relate to you. All they really want is to know that you’re human too.

Don’t be flimsy

This is less of what’s inside a good brochure, and more of what a good brochure feels like. A brochure is like a marketing handshake, and we all hate those ‘limp fish’ handshakes. When you’ve put a lot of effort into the interior quality, don’t flop on the physical product. A high-quality, luxuriously weighted business brochure will get noticed faster than a thin, flimsy brochure that crumples easily.
